Begin This Journey Now! Will you join me?

"One Bad Chapter....... Doesn’t Mean Your Story is Over!"

"The Best way out is always through"

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I... I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference."

- Robert Frost

One never knows what their capacity is in bearing pain until one has to carry its weight every day. Experiencing emotional trauma shocks the mind, dulls the nerves, numbs the senses and, like a hurricane, strikes hard, fast and, furious on all levels of our human psyche.

Sometimes we can prepare for it...we can sense the approaching storm and "ready ourselves" for the hit. However, most of the time we don't see it coming, and... like the approaching hurricane, the storm surge hits us full force. All that is left to see is destruction. One of the first questions that may come into our minds is "How will I ever recover from this?" "Where is the Way out?" "Will life ever be 'normal’ again?" "What will become of me?" "Why God! Has this happened to me!" "When will it end?"

I'd like to tell you that all these questions will be answered. I'd like to say that "Everything is going to be alright!", Pat you on the back and give you a cliché answer so you can move on.... but I won't. This is not how it works and anyone who gives a trite answer of "Oh you'll get through this...don't worry, everything will work out" has not experienced brokenness on the level you have or you will not be reading this now...I know, because I'm still there.

We are two travelers on the same path. Oh, our paths are quite different, but we have a common bond...we have been broken...perhaps multiple times, or right now in we are in the hurricanes eye. Perhaps, two travelers like us are still in brokenness walking together looking for a way through. I like the quote by Robert Frost, “The Best way out is always through."

Does this resonate with you as it does me? We must...push through the pain and emerge at the pathway of promise. It is the journey in-between that shapes us, changes us and, eventually heals us in the process. When Frost describes his poetical journey of two roads diverging in the woods and he chose the path less traveled, he exclaimed that it "made all the difference". We are left to ask... why? Yet we have an inkling within us, we know deep inside that, though the path is less traveled and riddled with hazards, tall grass, weeds, and unseen dangers... it also is inviting. I can use my imagination and picture a common path well-worn over the years, trod by many a traveler, safe and unassuming. The journey on this road is non-confronting, smoother and, mundane. The other road less traveled has an inviting quality to it. Not many choose its path, it may be harder to transverse but its pull to tranquility beckons us. We are drawn to Frost's road less traveled because there is a silent hope of promise; the end of the pathway is enduring, thoughtful, satisfying and, life changing.

As I said, we are both travelers together. We both have and are experiencing brokenness right now. We are both at a crossroads, two paths. We both must work our way out...through it, to wholeness and healing. This book is all about choosing the path less traveled. While many will never learn from their broken moments and broken lives - we will. Those who do not break through their brokenness are destined to repeat it.

This is from the first chapter of my book. ...Let's discuss it!
