Don't Push Aside Your Priorities!

We say we value many things, but the truth is we often push aside our priorities and our principals due to the pressure we face to just "survive" in this day and age. I get it..." everyone is expendable" with employers today. The pressure is always there and is always on. However, it takes a certain amount of courage in ourselves and choices that we must stand for if we want to ensure our future doesn't remain uncertain. If you value family but do not have the time to invest in your spouse or kids ...re-prioritize your values and make the adjustments. Perhaps you value compassion and have a desire to volunteer within your community but find that your priorities have slipped...make the adjustment. Is it education and finishing that degree or going back to school.... if education is something you truly value...make the adjustments...make it happen. Whatever your passion is will require you to make that value a permanent priority and focus. Adjusting doesn't have to be drastic, make a few adjustments at a time until your values match your vision. If you are unable to do this because you find your limitations exceed your priorities (e.g.work/life balance), just remember that we always...I mean always...have a choice. Being broken doesn't mean being stuck for the rest of your life. Prioritizing your values is one way to empower yourself again...and bring about your freedom.
"Value has a Value only if it’s a Value that is Valued"
In a short 30 second speech, Bryan Dyson - former CEO of Coca Cola said this: " Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. They are Work, Family, Friends, Health, and Spirit and you are keeping all of these balls in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls - Family, Health, Friends, and Spirit - are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for it." Work effectively during office hours and leave on time. Give the required time to your family, friends, and have proper rest. Value has a value only if it’s a value that is valued.
